                                              Erik Williams

Erik Williams, the suspect in an east Tulsa homicide of October 8th, has been arrested this past Tuesday, October 21st, in a West Wendover casino.

Nicki Hollman, Arrest Specialist at the Metro Narcotic Task Force  (Salt Lake City, West Valley, South Salt Lake, etc…), said that a joint effort from multiple agencies help to the arrest of Williams. The forces involved has been the Tulsa Oklahoma Police force, The Salt Lake City DEA office, The DEA Metro Narcotic Task Force*,The Nevada Highway Patrol, The Tooele Utah Highway Patrol, The Tooele Sheriff Department, and the West Wendover Police Department.

37-year-old Erik Williams,  was identified as the suspect in the October 8th murder of  24-year-old Christian Shockley at the Colonial Park Apartments, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Reports say Williams drove to the complex in a 2003 Tacoma pickup truck. Witnesses said Williams got out of the truck and shot is ex-girlfriend Christian Shockley, then drove away.

The Tulsa police said it was anything but random, and that Williams was looking for Shockley.

“Some people said they were fighting, they would have domestic violence in the front yard of their house. That relationship recently ended maybe three, four, five days ago. He had been using methamphetamine and that put him in a state of mind where he’s not thinking clearly,” said Tulsa Police Sergeant, Dave Walker.

Tulsa Police said Williams fled to a nearby apartment complex, Autumn Ridge, where he abandoned his truck. They watched it for ten hours, but he never returned. They since found another car he used and they have that too.

“Even though we stole his car so to speak, he’s getting around somehow. So there’s people out there that are in his underground, they’re helping to conceal him, and we’re trying to reach out and touch those people, and eventually those people will be the ones that lead us to him,” said Walker a few days ago.

When the shooting happened, police said the witnesses were able to describe the truck well so it didn’t take long to identify their suspect. Though his only conviction was for public intoxication, police said in his vehicles they found drugs and guns and believed he was growing more violent.

“He premeditated a murder. He drives up, sees her, gets out of his truck, pulls his gun, shoots his ex-girlfriend in front of a lot of other people, so obviously he targeted her, and then got back in his truck and left and then put his plan in motion to escape and so far he’s been successful doing that,” officer Walker was saying two days ago.

Williams was arrested without incident, and is now in Nevada Custody.

The Salt Lake Narcotic Metro Task force, headed by Nicki Hollman, was created in 1993, and its goal was to identify and disrupt drug trafficking organizations, with a recent focus on disrupting heroin distribution. The task force which includes Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill, Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Burbank and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes.
