We start out this week with two corrections and one apology to City Councilman Jerry Anderson.

We misspelled his name last week putting an “e” where the ‘o” is supposed to be.

We are sorry and we sympathize.

We also erred by identifying Councilman Anderson as a current employee of the Peppermill when he retired several years ago. Again we are sorry.

About a year ago we read about some Muslim morons in Africa who refused to let their children be vaccinated on the grounds that is was a Jewish/Christian conspiracy to make them infertile and/or impotent. Thus polio, a disease that was declared almost extinct a generation ago was making a comeback on the dark continent.

It seems as though stupidity is another potentially fatal disease and it has spread to our home.

The anti-vaxers screwy ideas would be just as funny as the Muslim morons but for the fact they threaten our children and our elderly.

Perhaps we should start reservations open to all who see a nefarious plot to take over the world via a measles shot or a whooping cough dose.

There they can happily live out their ignorant, paranoid lives without endangering the rest of society.

For those who see evil behind everything we cannot argue with. Facts mean little. Results mean less and dead babies and old people don’t count.

Last year we took a train from Elko to Reno for a funeral of our old debate coach. It was a wonderful trip except for the part of having to wait for it in Elko at 3:00 am. It was freezing.

We thought how nice it would be to be able to catch it in Wendover and sleep through the night until arriving in Reno.

Hopefully soon it will not be a pipe dream and train travel will come to Wendover.

Perhaps with the opening of the Long Canyon Mine there will be more of a demand from the projects employees for both east bound and west bound directions.
