Gordon Richardson of Wendover discovered the child crying on the shoulder of the highway scraped but otherwise unharmed.

“My husband, Gordon, was the angel here. He went to find that baby with barefeet and no shirt because he heard her crying in the dark,” said wife Jamey Richardson.”He was so worried about her. I just made the 911 call and prayed a lot.”

Preliminary investigation indicates that Richard Beaumont, age 38, from Logan, UT was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer east bound on I-80 over the Wells overpass.  For unknown reasons, Mr. Beaumont allowed the Ford Explorer to leave the left road edge and hit a guardrail.  Beaumont steered the Explorer to the right causing it to cross both travel lanes.  Beaumont then overcorrected the Explorer to the left causing it to overturn.  Hewas ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fandango2c-gold- 2015The right front passenger, Dawna Loughney, age 20, from Logan, UT was also ejected from the vehicle.  She was also not wearing her seatbelt.  She also was pronounced dead at the scene.

The miracle baby Loughney’s daughter was in the rear seat of the Explorer. She was not secured in a child safety seat but what can only be described as a miracle or was found on the side of the highway with only scrapes and scratches.  The child safety seat was found loose inside the vehicle.

The child was released to the Department of Child Family Services.
