West Wendover soccer lost a heart breaker championship match in overtime to Yerington Friday taking home the second place trophy.

Supps Veterans Day 1-2 page 2015The boys soccer team, who were first in their division through most of the season, lost a very close game at Yerington high for the state playoffs.  The game went into overtime before either team could break through the other’s defenses.  Yerington won the game by one point in overtime, however this defeat marks the end of one of the best seasons for West Wendover soccer in the past few years.

In other playoff action the Cross Country took third place at the state tournament, which was at Reno, behind Silver Stage at second and North Tahoe at first.  The West Wendover athletes who competed at the tournament ran their hardest all season, with many of them beating their personal best.

wrecvetsVarsity football went to playoffs at Yerington for the first time in many years.  While they lost the game 8-42, this was still their best season in the last few years.

West Wendover had an overall good season for fall sports, and they are improving.  We will look forward to see how they will do next year.  Winter sports are getting ready, with basketball having both their varsity and JV tryouts this Saturday on November 14.
