The Newmont Mining is seeking miners who worked on the companies first project on the fabled Carlin Trend.

“In May 1965, we poured our first gold bar on the Carlin Trend. Throughout 2015, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of that important milestone and the fact that we are still operating in northern Nevada!” said Natacia Eldridge Newmont External Relations Representative. “We owe this success to our employees and the strong partnership they have helped us build with our local communities over the last 50 years. We look forward to many more years and many more gold pours in Nevada.

If you or someone you know worked for Newmont in the early days, particularly the 1960s and 1970s, please share your stories, photos, and any other mementos from that part of Newmont’s history with community relations@newmont.com. Stayed tuned for Carlin history, stories and celebration activities throughout the year!”

Fittingly the 50th year of the Carlin Trend is also the first year of the Long Canyon Mine now being developed by Newmont.

Located Just 30 miles west of Elko Long Canyon could have just as much economic impact on the eastern half of Elko County as the Carlin Trend had on the western half and perhaps for just as long.
