Miguel Angel Narvaez, 25, a California fugitive who had been hiding in Wendover “for quite some time” was arrested Thursday in Wendover in a bizarre set of circumstances.

According to West Wendover police Sergeant David Wiskerchen officers were called to the scene of a fight behind the Rainbow Casino at around 7 pm last Thursday. When they arrived the two combatants had already fled the scene but some of the crowd that gathered to watch the fisticuffs still remained and officers set about interrogating witnesses.

Narvaez apparently gave police a valid ID including his real name and while he was being interviewed dispatchers located an active warrant for his arrest.

Narvaez did not go peacefully into custody and fought with police slightly injuring one before he was finally subdued.

Narvaez is being held on $50,500 bail in the Elko County Jail for the fugitive from justice warrant and a misdemeanor count of resisting an officer.

Meanwhile police report no luck in finding the two fighters who inadvertently led to Narvaez capture.
