Despite a valiant effort in the fourth quarter the West Wendover Wolverines came up short in last Friday’s non-league game against Altamont 45-32.

The Longhorns jumped out to an early 20-8 in the first quarter and tacked on another 12 unanswered point by half time and then another six points at the end of the third quarter.

Wendover however came back strong in the fourth quarter with 24 points to the Longhorns 7.

Despite the loss there were some bright spots in Friday’s game for new head coach Bob Loncar to build on in this preseason. The dynamic duo of twins QB Kaylar and and Receiver Kayden Sharp combined for 181 passing yards and two touch downs. Kaylar also spread the wealth tossing to freshman phenom Zade Elton for over 100 yards and one TD, Jaimmy Rodriguez for 50 yards and one TD and to Luis Correa for 72 yards and one TD.

Martin Dorado took the rushing title with 38 yards and one touch down.

On defense Dorado, Elton and Daniel Galaviz each recorded one sack against the Longhorns.

Friday West Wendover takes the Wolverine show on the road to currently undefeated Snake River High School in Blackfoot , Idaho.
