Wells Rural Electric is pulling out the stops to celebrate National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s  Cooperative Month,

“This year we really overhauled the format of our traditional member meetings. We thought long and hard about ways that we could make them more relevant to our owners, and, in the end, we decided to sponsor a community event to build support for our local high schools. We’re very proud of the communities we represent and we wanted to create events that put the focus on them.” said WREC director of communications Garrett Hylton “We’ve worked with each of the four high schools in our area over the last few months to create fun, exciting events for our owners to gather, get great meal at no cost to them and then celebrate our local youth. We’re really excited for and proud of the way these are coming together. We’ve only done one so far, but Wells drew 460 people to the dinner and raised more than $4,000 for the school and various programs.”

Dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.” Hylton added. “WREC will also sponsor a BBQ at West Wendover High on Oct. 21 to help the Wolverines kick off their homecoming week. Food will be served starting at 5:00 p.m. with a carnival to follow.”

“Our owners are the lifeblood of what we do,” said Hylton. “Our mission of providing reliable, affordable electricity, as well as showing the cooperative’s commitment to all of the communities we serve, comes down to making sure our owners get the best service possible.”
