West Wendover law enforcement is cracking down on city residents with outstanding warrants according to a Wednesday press release.

In just one week WWPD made seven arrests all but one resulted in a trip to the Elko County Jail.

“West Wendover Police would like to take the opportunity to remind the community that if you have anything outstanding, or that you think may be outstanding to clear it up as soon as possible,” said WWPD Public Information Officer David Avilez. “Doing so will help you to avoid warrants for arrests that can often lead to embarrassment and job terminations. The perfect example is a speeding citation, if you fail to take care of your citation meaning to pay it or contest it, the citation does not simply go away it becomes a warrant for your arrest. The last several days have proven this to be an issue within our community and prevention is the best way to avoid excess court costs and possible jail time for you.”
