In a legal advertisement running in the High Desert Advocate, Lane Shelton is advising that buying any property from Mary Temoke might not be a good idea: PUBLIC NOTICE, reads the ad, Lane Shelton DID NOT give Mary Temoke authorization to sell any real or personal property.

Shelton is in jail on a $100,000 bond for the attempted murder of his ex-wife a little more than two weeks ago.

“Evidently the two had been divorced but were still living together in Montello.” said sheriff’s detective Nick Czegledi. “Allegedly there was a fight and Shelton reportedly shot at his ex-wife as she was leaving the house.”

Deputies were called and Shelton was arrested at the home without incident. He is charged with one count of attempted murder.

While not contesting the fight, Shelton and his family maintain that Temoke was not Shelton’s target and that he shot at the floor after she had left the house and there is a bullet hole in the floor to prove it.

According to family members Shelton was advised by his attorney David Lockie of Elko to place the ad to protect his property from being sold by Temoke. Lockie meanwhile is trying to get the charges against Shelton either dropped or reduced so that the Montello man can make bail.
