Wendover Casinos saw a 6.0 percent increase in total gaming win in October to $14.55 million according to the latest report from the state gaming control board.

Slot win was up 5.3 percent to 11.3 million. Slot play was up 3.8 percent to $200.5 million. Slot hold was at 5.6 percent.

On the tables win was up 8.5 percent to $3.3 million. Play was down 2.0 percent to $15.1 million. Hold was at 21.77 percent.

“Win” is a gross figure, with no operating costs or other expenses deducted. And it’s casino revenue only––separate from hotel, restaurant or bar revenues generated by the resorts.

While win indicates a casino market’s profitability another statistic “play” is an indicator of how casino workers are fairing. With some casino workers dependent on tips for up to half of their total income, play, the amount of money wagered by gamblers is a good indicator of how much casino workers received in tips and how many gamblers are actually in the casino.

h&rNevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $913,643,061 for the month of October 2014.

This amounts to a 4.26 percent decrease compared to October 2013, when licensees reported a gaming win of $954,319,750.

For the fiscal year (July 1, 2014 through October 31, 2014), gaming win has decreased 3.29 percent.

Gaming stocks were mixed after the news release.
