West Wendover Wolverine basketball season started their season winning bragging rights to their cross-town rivals, the Wendover Wildcats, in a non-conference game Monday.

The junior varsity team beat the Wildcat’s junior varsity with a score of 48-67, and the boy’s varsity won with 42-71.

On Wednsday, the girls’ teams had their first action away at Wells High School.  Their junior varsity team had a great first game beating the Wells girls’ junior varsity with a score of 18-23, and the girl’s varsity team beat the Wells girl’s varsity team with a score of 27-42.  The Wells boys’ junior varsity and varsity travelled to West Wendover High School to play against the Wolverine boys’ freshmen and junior varsity teams, respectively.  The Wolverine boys’ freshmen team had a great game, beating Wells’ junior varsity team with a score of 69-13.  The boys’ junior varsity team saw great action, beating Wells’ varsity team with a score of 58-45.

wrecnewBasketball has a busy weekend and week ahead, with several away games.  On Wednesday, the boys’ varsity team travelled to Lake Mead to play their varsity, and the boys’ junior varsity team travelled to Elko to play at Independence high school.  The next day the boys’ varsity plays more in Lake Mead.  The girls’ freshmen and the boys’ freshmen teams are away Friday, December 6th to play against the Elko Indians’ freshmen teams in Elko, Nevada.

Wolverine wrestling season is playing this weekend as well.  This Friday on December 4, the wrestlers travel to Ely for their first meet, looking to have a good one.  The meet continues in Ely to Saturday the next day.

With basketball starting high, and wrestling getting ready, the West Wendover Wolverines look to have a good winter sports season.
