Yesterday, Sunday March 13, the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office received a call at around 9:00 a.m. of possibly some drug use at a local Ely motel. When the officers arrived at the motel in question, they saw in a one of the rooms what appeared to be methamphetamine.  While the deputies were obtaining a search warrant, the suspects returned to their room and removed the methamphetamine. Then they started to flee in a vehicle, while they were being followed by the officers. And they were throwing the drugs out of the window. The Ely Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and arrested the suspects. They were identified as Ray A. Chavez age 47 of Barstow CA., Brenda L. Rodriguez age 40 of Hinkley, CA, and Brian S. Inkenbrandt age 52 of Victorville, CA.

Chavez was arrested for obstructing a police officer, transporting a controlled substance, destruction of evidence, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and convicted person failure to register. He is being held on $500,000. Bail. Rodriguez was arrested for open container of alcohol in a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine. She is being held on $15,000. Bail. Inkenbrandt was arrested for obstructing a police officer, failure to yield right of way, eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and transporting a controlled substance. He is being held on $40,000 bail.  Deputies recovered approximately 32 grams of methamphetamine valued at $3,200.
