Philosopher Camus wrote “Always go too far, because that’s where you will find the truth.”

I have been gone a while, but I am back now. I have taken the time to take care of personal matters and to do some fact checking.

I have found that some committees, boards, etc. do not follow the NRSs set up by the state. I find this disturbing and wish they would correct these errors.

When someone runs for an office they should know the parliamentary rules for conducting a meeting, the ethics codes and most of all the NRS that pertains to their position.

The printing of the minutes for each meeting should be complete. They should contain the conversations, motions, seconds and voting information, such as who voted yes, who voted no and you abstain from voting.

Agendas, back up material and minutes should be available to the community. Back up material on an agenda should be provided prior to any meeting.

City and county governments make ordinances. These ordinances should be checked before voting on something that would affect the ordinance. I have found votes are taken without looking up the ordinance and are in conflict with the ordinance.

I do believe the county and the city can conduct their business if they know what the laws and the rules are. Too often they make decisions without checking prior decisions or talking to the public.

I am glad to be back.
