This Monday, November 7th, around 4:30 pm a silver car collided with a pickup truck’s trailer parked illegally in the street, next to the sidewalk outside A & I Hardware Store of Wendover. The lane is for bicycles only, not for parking.
The driver of the car, Frank Kasper, was traveling north, coming straight up from Pueblo Boulevard and saw the trailer to late. He ended up hitting it on the edge, and the momentum made his car roll over halfway. The Police Officer Pete Turner said in his report, that the driver was probably not speeding, as if he had, the car would have completed the rollover.
Lt. Don Leninger says that at the time nobody was given a citation, but the City attorney, Tom Coyle, is looking into it, and checking what fines might be issued.
Both the driver of the rolled over car and the pickup truck are from Utah. The pickup truck owner, Edwin Vasquez, has a company “E&M Remodeling” out of salt Lake City and was doing home improvement in Wendover. He stopped to go to the hardware store to pick up some supplies. The fire department and the West Wendover Police was on site shortly after the accident. The firemen used the Jaw of life to extract the man out of his car. The Wendover Ambulance was also there, securing the neck, and ready for transport. The man, an older man, did not require transport to an hospital.
