Sunday,  August 12, 2018, at approximately 5:40 am, NHP Troopers responded to a fatal crash on US93 approximately 7 miles south of Wells, Nevada.

   Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Jerald Cruise, age 43, from Las Vegas, Nevada, was driving a 2007 GMC pickup northbound on US93.  For unknown reasons, Mr. Cruise allowed the pickup to cross the centerline and enter the west dirt shoulder.  In an effort to regain the roadway, Mr. Cruise overcorrected to the right, causing the pickup to travel back onto the highway.  Mr. Cruise  overcorrected again to the left at which time the pickup began to overturn in the southbound travel lane.  Mr. Cruise was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  He died at the scene.    

  NHP Trooper Jim Stewart said that the vehicle came to rest on its left side on the west dirt shoulder of US93.

   The passenger, Ricky Beckham, age 62, from Las Vegas, NV was transported to Northern Nevada Regional Hospital with minor injuries.  He was wearing his seatbelt.
