Jeraldine Thomas, 50-years-old, of Elko, NV, was arrested  May 5, 2020 for 3.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Thomas’ property. (photo credit Nevada Highway Patrol) 

    On May 5th, 2020 at approximately 4:00 PM, Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a a vehicle crash, with possible injuries, on Interstate 80 approximately 3 miles west of Elko. Preliminary investigation shows, a white Chevy Cruze, being driven by Jeraldine Thomas (50-years-old) of Elko, NV, was traveling east on Interstate 80. Witness testimony states that prior to the crash Thomas was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles unsafely. Thomas struck the rear of a grey Ford Edge, driven by a 34-year-old male of Spring Creek, NV, causing the Ford to run off the road, into the center median and roll. Thomas’ vehicle ran off the south roadway edge and came to rest on its wheels. 

Troopers on scene suspected Thomas was possibly under the influence and conducted a DUI investigation. Thomas was transported to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital were she was treated for minor injuries and released, prior to being transported to jail. 

Further investigation uncovered approximately 3.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Thomas’ property(car). 

Thomas is charged with Reckless Driving, Failure to Use Due Care, 2nd Offence Driving Under the Influence, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Transporting a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

The driver of the Ford was not injured in the crash.
