Gertrude Anna Tripp passed away on the night of August 10, 2020. She was born in Plains, Kansas on October 25, 1928 to Ralph and Voyza Bennett. 

She had 11 siblings, only five of whom would survive to adulthood. Gert and her four brothers grew up in Logan, UT. She loved her brothers and enjoyed telling stories of being the only girl. 

Gert’s parents provided room and board for many college students. One of those tenants was Mark Tripp, who Gert would later marry in Logan, UT on March 17, 1947. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on August 4, 1959. 

In 1955, they moved to Wendover and it instantly became their home. Wendover would hold their hearts for 65 years. They were blessed with a large posterity: 8 children, 26 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Gert loved kids and worked many years at the schools in Wendover. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She had a beautiful voice and found great joy in singing. She loved her community and enjoyed sharing its history with everyone. There were many people in her life that called her grandma Gert, please know she loved each one of you.

Gert is survived by her children, Kathleen Hussey, Darlene (Byron) Hobbs, Don (Cheryl) Tripp, Vaughn Tripp, Tina (Dwayne) Leddon, and Patti (Glenn) Ratliff; her brother, Darell (Sue) Bennett; and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by her loving husband; children, Virgil and Sheila; son-in-laws, Tom Hussey and Dale Stewart; 5 sisters, 4 brothers, and 2 grandchildren.  

Graveside services will be held at Wendover City Cemetery on August 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. 

With everybody wearing masks, a walk-through viewing will be held at the LDS Church in Wendover, Utah at 9:00 a.m.
