At last City Council meeting of Tuesday, February 16, the Elko Chief of Police Ty Trouten came in front of the West Wendover City Council to explain why the new 911 call system was so expensive, up to $50,000. per month to the County. And the proposal was to charge every cell phone in the county $1/month. The Council  and the Mayor were not pleased, as a dollar a month is a lot for many people, and the mayor insisted that it would be too much for senior citizens and/or people in difficulties. It was a consensus across the board but after many minutes going around for a decision, it was finally and reluctantly approved, as the Elko Police Chief explained the advantages of the system who could save lives.
