Before the truth is revealed?

All of this gossip is getting old,

And it is time for our wounds to be healed.

Don’t talk about someone behind their back

Unless you can say it to their face.

Don’t tell your secrets to soon.

Let them all out at the right time and place.

Make sure you can trust someone

Before you tell them your hurts and fears.

They might not be the person you think you know

Even after all these years.

I’m tired of the rumors, gossip, and lies.

Why can’t we all just get along

And put an end to all of these depressing cries?

Rumors, gossip and lies are a common place in the county. Some of our officials past and present are quite capable of spreading what they deem necessary to get what they want. I know this for a fact. Many times I witnessed this done to others and myself, in many ways. Writing and having an opinion, I expect this and can handle it.

I have only one problem, when something I care a great deal about is falsely gossiped about, I will respond. When the people of White Pine have the fresh food distribution threaten, I will fight back. One official now knows this. I am a nice person most of the time. Don’t challenge me, you will not like it.

You can employ all your acquaintance to call the editor, comment about me on Face Book, hang up phone calls, talk to Sheriff Dan, send repeated emails and spread rumors all you want, but do try to affect the food  distributions!

Most of the county is very supportive of my article, very few try to course problems.

A little history and facts about the program provided by Northern Nevada Mobile Pantry.

Wayne Cameron from the Chamber had heard about the program and meet with Jenny Yeager, program director. Jenny came to Ely and said this was a good location for a food distribution.

The first distribution  was set up at the Elk Lodge. Wayne called me and asked if RSVP could help hand out the food. Always eager to help, I had no problem getting many volunteers to help.

After the distribution Jenny asked if I would find a location and head the program. I contacted Pastor Rick at the First Baptist Church. Paster Rick agreed and we have worked together to provide this service to the county.

How it works. The recipients of the food must fill a form including finical information and family size. This information is sent to NN headquarters, none of the information is keep in Ely.  Jenny and her group monitor the information and notify Paster Rick or myself of anyone does not qualifying for the distribution and they are removed from the list.

I give special thanks to Wayne Cameron, Pastor Rick and all who give their time to volunteer.

Philosopher Camus wrote “Always go too far, because that’s where you will find the truth.

One thing we need to remember is our officials are human even though we hold them to a higher standard. Officials need to remember we do hold them to a higher standard.  This may not be fair, but a fact.

I expect a official to act in a honest, respectful manner. I know officials would like the same, but we need to talk to them in a direct fashion. We have 5 commissioners and they do not know what you need or want. Sometimes they don’t listen, keep talking.

Our officials need to ask us questions so we have some control in our lives and our community. Some do ask questions, but not many and not often.

Please stay alert and participate in your community, ( your own life).

I feel this also true in boards and committees.

Northern Nevada Food Distribution is an important part of my and many others lives. I do take offense when there are false rumors being spread about this service. I do take them serious and personal.

When a person picks up for a shut-in, they must bring a note from that shut-in. This does not mean they are picking up for themselves.

There have been many who donate their time on this project : Bruce and Pat Setterstrom, Bunny Hill, Mike Coster, John Lampros, the County Volunteer Fire Department, Gary Cook of the Ely Times, RSVP, people of the church, the tribe and many more. I do thank you all.
