For the record we don’t believe roughly half of the delegates to the Democratic Convention booed G-d.
We are however pretty sure they booed the state of Israel, G-d was merely collateral damage.
We are also pretty sure of something else, if someone gave a speech condemning Israel at the DNC convention he or she would probably be cheered by about 50 percent of the delegates.
With a son in the Israel Defense Forces we are naturally more than a bit biased than most Americans.
Still if national polls are to be believed over 70 percent of Americans are firm supporters of the Jewish state, less than 20 percent support the Palestinian Authority or Hamas and about 10 percent don’t care.
That means if our math is correct about half the Democrat delegates are way out of the mainstream.
Nothing wrong with being out of the mainstream, this is a big country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, and it is a big but, you don’t win votes for espousing beliefs that are contrary to those held by the majority.
Democrat leaders have become blue in the face arguing how much Barack Obama loves Israel and how he never would abandon it, yet there must be something about Barack Obama that Israel haters love, otherwise why would he attract so many?
This is our ninth presidential election and we have long since learned not to pay attention to the guy giving the speech but to who is in the crowd cheering.
We do this because we are too lazy to learn all the buzz words that sound perfectly innocuous but have a little extra oomph to those in the know.
Kind of like how “gay” was used by gays before anyone else knew that gay wasn’t always happy.
We would never vote for anyone who say was the favorite of child molesters, the Ku Klux Klan or the Justin Beiber fan club (we really hate that kid).
And after taking a good long and hard look at the delegates of the Democrat convention we can say without any doubt that we would not want to be a part of that party.
History and affection aside, this is the party that purposely booed Israel, they will never have our vote. And even if it was only by accident they booed G-d too.
We were surprised as anyone to see the perpetrators of the vicious beating last week were two young men who have recently graced the front of our newspaper for other rather sensational crimes.
Something ain’t right here.
If it was Morales and Avila would be in jail somewhere whomping on another inmate or getting whomped rather than beating one of our neighbors half to death.
Something else isn’t right.
Why should the police wait a week to make the arrest?
Paper work is fine and dandy but the two were identified by the victim, yet a week passed by while the criminal duo was free possibly to bludgeon another person while the police waited for the DA to file a charges.
Some may argue the police are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
But we don’t think so.
Anyone who smashes another man to a bloody pulp should be arrested as soon as possible.
Not for his sake but for ours.
