Danika Sharp, the greatest high school athlete of West Wendover and current starter for the University of Nevada’s Wolf Pack will be part of a special presentation Tuesday when a banner commemorating her high school scoring record is presented to the school.

“We are so very proud of her,” said father and head coach of this year’s WWHS men’s basketball team.

The banner will be presented at 4:30 pm during half time of a game.

1Sharp attended West Wendover High School from 2005 to 2010. As a senior she became the all-time scoring leader in the state of Nevada of all players men and women and ended her high school career with 2,803 points.

A two year starter with the Wolf Pack Sharp has emerged as a team leader just as she dominated the high school boards.

Sharp is majoring in elementary education and was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. She was also recruited by Utah and New Mexico before signing with the Wolf Pack.

For Wendover which never had a graduating class over 60 interest in Wolverine athletes has been few and very far between from any college let alone a top tier school from the NCAA. A person can count on one hand the number of past Wolverines who received even partial athletic scholarships to attend even the smaller universities or junior colleges.

Sharp received a full scholarship and the admiration of her home town.
