A body discovered last week on a hill facing the Wendover Catholic church was identified as William Matthew Richmond a 35 year old Salt Lake City man, said Tooele county Sheriff’s Detective Travis Scharmann.

“We received an attempt to locate and welfare check request from Salt Lake police on May 1st,” Scharmann said Tuesday. “Richmond was described by the reporting party as potentially harmful to himself. His body was found May 7th, dead from an apparent gunshot would. From the state of decomposition he could have been out there for three or four days, roughly at about the same time we were notified he was missing.

Spring2013-halfpageAccording to Scharmann his death is being treated as suspicious though the formal investigation has not yet been completed.

According to apartment manager Janell Green richmond’s dog is still haunting the area.

“The man’s dog is still running around. The dog goes to that spot where man was found dead stays all day,” she said Tuesday. “He wanders at night for food water and chases people who cross the field at night for a short cut .. Sad poor dog”

  1. Howard, this article you wrote is tabloid and offensive. This is my brother, he had no relationship to Wendover and there is no dog out there waiting for his master. Please, please redact this whole strip of bilge.
