A traffic stop for driving without headlights recovered a stolen car from a very inebriated woman early Monday morning.

According to police reports Brittney Jensen, 29 of Layton, Utah, was spotted driving without headlights near the junction of Wendover Boulevard and US 93A when she was pulled over at about 2 am Monday morning.

While she was talking to the officer still in the drivers seat the vehicle began to slowly travel on the sidewalk. Once stopped again Jensen told the officer that she was homeless, had no drivers license and had been drinking alcohol.

She failed a sobriety test and when asked about the owner of the car jensen replied it was an old friend whose name she could not remember.

In addition to the stolen car charge police found several open containers of alcohol, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia all allegedly belonging to Jensen.

While she was being booked the owner of the car called dispatch to report his vehicle missing and was informed that it was found and he could recover it.

Jensen was booked on a variety of charges including Grand Theft Auto and booked into the Elko County Jail on a combined $8,525 bond.
