Utah Highway Patrol Troopers scored big on “Dear Widows Weekend” but not in the way most attendees to the annual raucous event wanted.

Every year in the middle of the Utah deer hunt, Wendover Casinos male strippers to the lonely deer widows while their husbands look for a different kind of big game.

And every year the UHP mounts a check point just a mile out of town to crack down on ladies who may have partied a little too hard before returning home.

According to UHP reports troopers made a total of 1315 stops were conducted on vehicles traveling eastbound and westbound through the checkpoint.

The total score included:

2 Pipeline Seizures with a 4.5 lb marijuana seizure and a 65 lb marijuana seizure.

9 DUI arrest. 3 state tax impounds and 2 other impounds.

33 designated drivers. 54 SFST’s conducted.

11 warrants with a total bail of $51,655.00

1 alcohol restricted.

2 ignition interlock restriction violations.

16 open containers.

14 misdemeanor drug violations.

7 speeding.

38 no insurance.

27 suspended licenses.

13 seat belt violations.

5 child restraints.

52 Commercial Vehicles stopped

6 Commercial Vehicles put out of service for safety violations.

    I didn’t see where this checkpoint was advertised in the media beforehand like the Utah laws require.
