An Ely fugitive wanted since 2012 for the killing of his roommate was finally bound over for trial to White Pine district Court this week.
Stuart Eugene Cole was formally charged Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, and contempt of court in a preliminary hearing Monday in White Pine Justice court.
Cole a drifter and petty criminal is accused of causing the death of roommate Lavance Andre Stewart.
Cole is accused of leaving the body of Stewart in the middle of the road in Ely in late 2012. Both men had moved to Ely 3-5 years before and had shared a house together. Cole had been in trouble with local law enforcement almost from the moment he arrived. According to court records he was involved in several bar fights around town and had been found guilty of several gross misdemeanors and probation violations.
While serving probation for his role in a 2011 bar fight at Shooters Lounge, Cole allegedly killed Stewart and then fled Ely to parts unknown. It is unknown as of press time just where Cole was arrested but he was returned to Ely and was bound over for trial Monday.
This is untrue. A blatant form of racial profiling. Stuart Cole was living in his home town of Clinton, MS where he was working and raising his child. He did leave White Pine County after he was advised by the FBI and an attorney he retained due to a domestic dispute between he and his child’s mother; who has also been harassed. He and his child’s mother shared and home together paying rent to a landlord, as proof. Stuart has family in Las Vegas, NV. Stuart is not a drifter or petty criminal. Stuart was living in Ely, NV being harassed by the local White Pine County police. He is a well loved and respected hard working father, stepfather, and step-grand-father. Stuart comes from a decent hardworking family.
He was arrested, while at work, after being recognized by a police while outside. A warrant was sent to Clinton, MS two weeks prior to Stuart being arrested. The Clinton police informed Stuart and his family that the original warrant was written in October of 2014. White Pine County sheriff’s office and deputies knew Stuart was back home with his parents in MS Since 2012.The local bail bonds also new where Stuart Cole was. HE WAS NEVER CHARGED FOR A CRIME. HE WAS NOT A FUGITIVE.
Stuart was arrested and held for extradition from MS to Ely for more than two months. We alerted the FBI and NAACP of the transport and feared for his life after being told a SPECIAL investigator was going to try and rough him up into making a false confession. Stuart’s family was informed that he was picked up for transport on July 24, 2012 and he was not transported directly to Ely; he arrived a week and 1 day. We, his family was worried to death. Calling everyday hoping he wouldn’t be found dead in the dessert or somewhere and his body not being able to be found until days, months, or years later.
Stuart Cole is respected by his all his former employees, he is a mentor to young adults, and a God fearing young man. He was tore from making a livelihood for he and his family.
Perhaps the FBI and the White Pine County Coyote TV Advocate should print news to investigate whether or not the white pine county sheriff’s office are responsible for the young African American who was found deceased.
I personally know Stuart Cole. This is all a bunch of lies. Media just trying to get their ratings….all lies
This information is not true!!! Stuart is not a petty criminal! Stuart is not a drifter! Stuart Cole is not a murderer!!! I believe this is an attempt to EXPOLIT and DISCREDIT the name of a wonderful man! Stuart is a great father and rôle model to my younger children, and is loved respected and admired by my older children!! Stuart has loved and provided for them as if they were HIS OWN !!! He is truly a blessing to our family and He has taught them honesty and respect. Stuart always helps everyone and he would/could NEVER hurt anyone! These false accusations have disrupted our family and is hurting all who know/love him. It is very hurtful/hard to explain to our young children WHY Stuart can’t come home right now, and the almost intolerable pain that comes when they ask him over the phone WHEN can he back home. So I ask all who knows Stuart to speak out/up on his behalf !!! Please help stop this unjustly (racial profiling) action that has been taken against the most wonderful kind hearted honest sincere man we have ever had the pleasure of knowing!!! FREE COLE
Since I’ve known Stuart Cole, I found him to be one of the nicest guys and have not one harsh bone in his soul. He is great with kids. Teaches them right from wrong and how to respect adults as well as one another. He has been the one person that has made my sister the happiest I’ve ever seen her. He is so real to life and things he believes in it’s crazy to say and to believe these rash and untrue comments about a young man trying his best to do right by his child and step children. We as Americans know better than believe rumors and accusations. Be true when you speak of someone’s well being and life people. The article written about this man is considered slander and is against the law. I hope Stuart Cole is freed. He doesn’t deserve this. Let Him Go!!!!!!!

Stuart Cole is a great person,father of many ,even ones who aren’t his ,and a fantastic friend of mine. He was a law abiding citizen fun, open,and outgoing. This “stuff” being written about him is straight opinion and lies not facts. Why lie to everyone, he is human,like family to me and many.If something is written let it be truthful let everyone know the type of person he is in the eyes of others.
Stuart is a great person there is no way he could have killed anyone … He has been a great father figure to my little brothers and also had took care of his own child by himself!!
Stuart is a honest dependable hard working man and good role model for many including myself!! I can only hope that I can be as good of a role model to my son as he has been to many
