On June 3-4, 2016, incredible skill and agility was demonstrated by Utah’s best tree climbers at the Utah Community Forest Council/International Society of Arboriculture-Utah Chapter’s 23nd Annual Tree Climbing Championship at 100 East Main Street, in American Fork, UT.

The event showcased talents of the state’s best climbers as they compete for the title of Utah champion. Competitors will perform five climbs – Work Climb, Aerial Rescue, Belayed Speed Climb, Secured Foot Lock, and Throw Line. Each event tests a competitor’s ability to quickly, professionally, and safely maneuver in a tree while performing work-related tree-care tasks.

“The championship events simulate working conditions of professional tree climbers. Arborists from around the state can learn advanced techniques from each other and get a chance to see new and different equipment,” said Mike Marett, Past President. “The championship is always a crowd pleaser. It brings the best of the best together to compete, share knowledge and experience.”

Following two days of climbing events, the top four competitors with the highest scores competed in the Masters Challenge on Saturday. The Masters Challenge champion will represent Utah at the 2016 International Tree Climb Competition on October 1-2, 2016 in Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada
