Plans are underway to honor the team and coaches of West Wendover’s first and so far only State Championship Football team on its tenth anniversary.
“We are trying to get as many of the team and the coaches back to Wendover, hopefully as part of this year’s home coming game,” said then WWHS assistant coach Shayne Greenland.
“They weren’t the best team in their division in terms of athletic ability or skill but they had heart,” said then Head Coach Brian Poole. “I bring them up all the time coaching other players. Every single one of those players at one time during another during the season dug deep and did something, performed at a level they shouldn’t have. It was truly a very special team and it was an honor to be their coach.”
