Clean and safe now, mother Chihuahua and puppies were among some 50 dogs and puppies discovered in a couples car last Friday in Wendover.

Felony warrents of animal cruelty could be issued this month against Terry and Marie Friedel who have allegedly left a trail of dead Chihuahua from Elko to Wendover, Utah over the course of two weeks.

Last Friday some 50 starving and ill Chihuahua dogs and puppies were rescued from what was described as a mobile puppy mill in Wendover.

“I received a call from friend Noe Lopez that we where needed a the R Place Truck stop that there was a older couple in need of food and would like him to buy them some food for some puppies. We rushed over there to find the most horrifying sight I have ever seen and if God is permitting I never will again.

puppy2 There were what looked like to be 50-60 dogs some dying and two new born dead.  The car was packed with older dogs as well as younger ones and the smell I don’t think I could even describe it. They sat in dog crap dog pee and dead puppies,” said Wendover rescuer Carolyn Neeley. “It was so overwhelming that we had to call animal control and Gary Bean from the Utah side showed up. At this time I was holding a darling little angel and I had to put her down to help him put dogs in a carrier. I had no clue he had told the Police Department he needed no help. I thought they would be charged, but instead he helped them clean there car so the next day they where able to get the nine dogs in the shelter, two are due to have babies. I am totally horrified by the life of those puppies due to the animal control officer inadequacy to do his job!!!”

“I received a phone call about 49 dogs in a car in deplorable conditions. I came down and August 26, 2013 to bring them back to Payson where I run my rescue. I arrived to find a litter of puppies not all from the same mother dogs, in conditions that are very unhealthy and unsuitable. I also took a pregnant mother dog who is a bit apprehensive and nippy,” wrote Tayler Smith of the Bully Chic Animal Rescue in Salt Lake City. “On further examination of the animals , the puppies had bloody stools and were eating each others fecal matter after alleviating themselves. They are very skittish and not used to people. The puppies have never even seen or felt grass until we put them on it.

BULL“The vet said that due to their living conditions prior, they will need to wait about 3-4 days to see if it’s more then just dirty living that has made them sick. They were not even use to eating puppy or dog food until we distributed some to all the puppies and mama dogs.

The people who had these dogs should be ashamed of themselves, this is animal abuse first hand. These dogs were being breed with their brothers and sisters. I personally believe they should not ever be able to own any more dogs again!”

A week before the Freidels were implcated in another case of dead and/or abbondoned mal treated dogs in Elko and in Wells.

A sick puppy found whimpering in a gas station trash bin led to the discovery of an RV packed with unhealthy dogs.

wrecsocialmediaadAn employee of Flying J in Wells, who was taking out the garbage Friday morning, heard the dog, pulled it out of the trash and called the sheriff’s office, according to Undersheriff Clair Morris.

A deputy located the owners — a couple whose RV had broken down — who said they thought the dog was dead, Morris said, and decided to dispose of it by throwing it in a trash bin.

The dog was alive, but sickly.

Inside the owners’ RV, deputies found a pungent mess of dog feces, hair, flies and about 35 dogs, according to the undersheriff.

“The deputy said it was disgusting,” Morris said.

The dog owners agreed to allow the sheriff’s office to take eight additional adult dogs that appeared unhealthy, which were housed Friday at the Elko Animal Shelter.

T he veterinarian clinic diagnosed the puppy with parvovirus, an infectious disease that can be fatal for canines.

borderbash“It’s still alive and they’re treating it,” said Karen Walther, animal shelter manager. “The puppy is very fortunate to be alive.”

Walther said the adult dogs — chihuahua mixes — were placed in isolated cages because of their potential exposure to parvo. Staff is waiting for the distraught dogs to calm down so they can be treated.

“They aren’t friendly, probably to do with all the trauma they’ve been through,” she said. “We have to be very cautious because they might not have been vaccinated.”

Coincidentally the West Wendover City Council is in the final stages of passing an ordinance requiring licensing and registration of dog and cat breeding.

Ground work new ordinance, said City Clerk Anna Bartlome, was laid in the recent session of the Nevada Legislature after public outrage rose over news reports of unsanitary and unregulated puppy mills surfaced last year.

Both the Elko District Attorney and the Tooele County Attorney are reviewing the cases for possible criminal charges.

  1. My family and I rescued one of these puppies. People are complete morons they are willing to put animals through unhealthy dying conditions just to run a puppy mill and make a buck! This really pisses me off and i can’t believe the cops haven’t arrested these people for their animal cruelty, they should be arrested to set an example to other people running similar act towards animal.

  2. The laws in Nevada as far as animal rights are way too lenient. A few of us have learned this the hard way. I’m not gonna name the people who I know for a fact have had dogs locally freeze to death, suffer severe heat stroke and die, dying from parvo even after being warned over and over of the high risks of the disease. Many people have animals just to have them, whether for ornamental value or what have you. These animals are too often left outside and uncared for. Fed but not loved, left outside completely unsocialized in the hottest and the coldest of conditions, and becoming aggressive because they are unloved. In Nevada, there is no crime unless the animal goes down and cannot get back up. Although the most recent chapter to this particular story was in Wendover Utah, it began in Nevada, and LE had the opportunity to do something before this case made it to Tooele County. And then and animal control officer has an opportunity to save these dogs and site the owners for prosecution, but his heart was too soft and was sadly more concerned for the owners of these dogs.

  3. To all of the people that helped and loved these little angels to the person that bathed and cut the nails you are blessed to Lyn Craythorn who sleeps outside so the puppies didn’t have to god bless you to Shereen Craythron that showed up in a heartbeat with her daughters to help without question I respect you. To Noe Lopez My best friend ever who helps me every day to save these dogs I love you too much, to April who came to my rescue when a female was in distress having her puppies I commend you. and to all of the special pet parents that adopted these little angels into your home you will forever be loved by them. But as for the jerks that commented on how healthy these puppies looked maybe seeing dying dogs or sick and gross condition are your thing but not so much for the rest of us go to hell!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. some of these dogs are very aggressive due to the fact that they have not been around loving humans so they are scared to death of us. my family and i have experienced many dog bites in the past week from trying to care for these animals if this wasn’t a puppy mill they would’ve had names for all of these dogs and they wouldn’t be so scared of us some of them seem like they have been abused some have scratches and scars on them from fighting for food they all need is a good loving home to someone with a lot of patience they are all very good dogs but the 2 most aggressive dogs are gonna need about a month before they can be adopted

thank you Carolyn these dogs would probably still be in that tiny car if you didn’t call me thanks Noe Jordan April dad mom and Kaylee all of these dogs are much happier now thanks to all of you we saved these animals

    we make a great team c: <3
