Ricky J. Shurtleff age 48 of McGill
During the last few months several homes were burglarized in the town of McGill and its surroundings. The White Pine County Sheriff’s Office had been vigorously investigating those burglaries, were an individual would enter private homes and steal clothing, electronics, money, jewelry, personal documents, or other items and also firearms. Several search warrants for a residence and a mobile home, both located in McGill, were obtained from the Ely Justice Court, after the investigation identified a possible suspect.
During the search of the suspect’s home and mobile home, many items of evidence recovered were the victims missing items and belongings, linking the suspect to those burglaries. The suspect, a 48 years old man, Ricky J. Shurtleff, of McGill, was arrested, and accused of four counts of burglary, six counts of grand larceny of a firearm, and six counts of ex-felon in possession of a firearm. While the investigation into these burglaries continues, Shurtleff is being held at the White Pine County Jail on a bail of $170,000. White Pine County Sheriff Dan Watts said that the arrest was a “good get”, then added that this needed to be actively solved due to the threat to the public.
